Business hotels with a difference

We showcase three affordable hotel choices that will delight your overseas guests

As more local companies expand their operations abroad, you will likely need to arrange accommodations for your overseas customers or partners when they come to visit. In these challenging times, keeping a lid on costs has become a priority. As such, we’ve come up with a few affordable hotel options (all room rates start below $200 a night) that are located centrally and are interesting experiences in their own right.

M Social

M Social

Designed by Philippe Starck, M Social will appeal to design enthusiasts with its palette of neon colours, as well as steel and mirrored furnishings. The double-height ceilings means that even the smallest rooms does not feel cramped. Located in the lifestyle hub of Robertson Quay, there  is no shortage of after-work options to unwind, with many eateries, cafes and bars to be found at the hotel’s door step. You can also try Beast & Butterflies, M Social’s signature restaurant, which offers modern Asian cuisine.

Lloyd’s Inn

Lloyd’s Inn

Lloyd’s Inn is a 34-room boutique property located a few minutes from Singapore’s famous Orchard Road shopping belt. More interestingly to visitors, perhaps, is the fact that the hotel is less than a hundred metres from the former residence of Singapore’s first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, on Oxley Road. The avant-garde property features rooms with different styles and a minimalist feel. The roof terrace and dipping pool that sits amid lush greenery are ideal places to relax after a hectic day of meetings and business lunches. There is no in-house restaurant, but guests receive vouchers for breakfast  at two nearby cafes, Freshly Baked and Killiney Kopitiam. A Business Room is also available for those who need a place to work.

Highlights include the ‘Mono’ rooms that come with a glass bathtub, and the sci-fi rooms where guests can slumber among the ‘stars’. Being located in the midst of Little India also means that visitors can take in a rich slice of Singapore’s culture, as well as a great mix of local food available in the neighbourhood. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from Bugis and Little India MRT stations.
